About the Crystal Coast Quality of Life Awards:

THE CRYSTAL COAST Quality of Life Awards program has recently been created to recognize volunteer organizations or groups within the community that are helping to make a difference at the grassroots level to enhance the quality of life in Carteret County. Sponsored by the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce, the Carteret County Association of REALTORS and NCCOAST Communications, the Crystal Coast Quality of Life Awards spotlight charitable and worthwhile projects that contribute in some way toward the betterment of the community.

“Our goal is to honor volunteer groups, work teams or organizations for their collective accomplishments that demonstrate the spirit of cooperation,” said Ray Harris, Chamber Chair.  “We believe this awards program will help achieve the Chamber’s vision for Carteret County to be ‘the most desirable location for business and leisure in North Carolina.’”

Paula Stadiem, President of the Association of REALTORS, said, “Community pride can be reflected in a number of ways, and we are pleased to partner in this initiative that seeks to showcase people who truly are having an impact in making Carteret County a better place in which to live, work and raise our families.”

Says Tom Kies, CEO and Publisher of NCCOAST Communications, about the new community awards, “As a creative services company engaged in the full spectrum of graphic arts, printing, marketing, and web design and development, we are in the image business, so it’s a natural extension for us to be involved with this project. We are focusing on the community’s image, and we think there are plenty of good stories out there just waiting to be told.”

Here’s how it works: Any citizen can make a nomination. Forms are available from each of the participating sponsors or the document can be accessed online at NCCOAST Communications’ corporate website, www.nccoastcommunications.com/qualityoflife.

The nominated project, activity or event should fall into one or more of these categories:  Arts and Culture, Community Development, Education, Environment, Health, Housing, Human Services, Inclusiveness, Public Safety, Spiritual Life, Sports and Recreation or Youth Programs.

Each nomination is screened by a panel of judges from the sponsoring organizations. Awards are presented as earned, with no requirements related to frequency. Winners receive a framed certificate to be awarded to the group or organization at a function that would result in maximum exposure for the winner.

Chamber President Mike Wagoner notes, “Because the awards are meant to recognize group efforts by two or more people, single individuals are ineligible.” Questions can be referred to the Chamber, 252.726.6350.
